Period restoration and extensions in Albert Park.

Albert Park is known for its grand double-storey Victorian terraces and villas, especially the streets closest to the lake, and a large share of that housing sits inside a heritage overlay. Blocks here tend to be a little more generous than in Fitzroy or Carlton, but the same rules around street presentation and original detail still apply to most real change. Iron lacework, decorative render and established front gardens are part of what makes those streets work, and any extension or restoration has to sit comfortably next to that.

That’s exactly the kind of work we take on: our period restoration service handles council submissions and heritage compliance so original verandahs, render and joinery are kept where they can be and matched carefully where they can’t. Where a family needs more space than the original footprint allows, a well-planned extension at the rear can add real living area without disturbing the street-facing heritage that gives these homes their value.

Our nearby Port Melbourne Heritage Renovation and Extension is a good example of the same approach applied a little further along the bay.

Albert Park’s planning permits and heritage overlay are administered by the City of Port Phillip, and any address can be looked up on the state’s VicPlan map.
