Period restoration and extensions in Port Melbourne.

Using Robert on our Port Melbourne project was our smartest decision. He resolved complex site issues with the engineer and architect, and liaised with the Water Authority on our flood level concerns.

Anthony, Port Melbourne

Port Melbourne grew up as a working port and fishing village before it became one of Melbourne’s most sought-after bayside addresses, and that history is still visible in the housing: single and double-fronted Victorian and Edwardian cottages close to the old docks, sitting alongside newer townhouses and waterfront apartment developments built over the last few decades. Being this close to the bay also means engineering and drainage often need a closer look: retaining wall design, flood levels and working with the relevant water authority can all come into play, and we factor that into the plan from the start.

Our Port Melbourne Heritage Renovation and Extension is a good example of the work we do on the older cottages here: a heritage renovation paired with an extension, handled with the same care for the original house whether it’s on a heritage-overlaid street or a standard block.

For the newer apartment buildings closer to the water, our body corporate remediation service covers common property repairs, waterproofing and capital works for owners corporations and strata managers.

Most homes in Port Melbourne fall under the City of Port Phillip, which issues planning permits and administers the heritage overlay; the state’s VicPlan map shows which council and overlays apply to a given address.

Every project is managed personally, with clear communication at every stage. Foremost holds building registration CDB-U63719, and Robert is a current member of Master Builders Victoria.
