Period restoration and extensions in Middle Park.

Middle Park is one of the most tightly preserved Victorian pockets in Melbourne: rows of single and double-fronted terraces on quiet, leafy streets between the park and the beach, most of it sitting inside a heritage overlay that keeps the streetscape close to original. Very little here has been knocked down and started again, which says something about how the area is protected and how residents want to keep it. It’s a small suburb, but a distinctive one, and most owners here are protecting what they’ve got rather than chasing something bigger.

That level of preservation is exactly where our period restoration service earns its place: council submissions and heritage compliance handled as part of the job, original features kept where they can be and matched carefully where they can’t. Because these blocks don’t leave much room to move, a rear extension has to be planned tightly, working with the existing roofline and materials rather than fighting them.

Our nearby Port Melbourne Heritage Renovation and Extension shows the same approach: keep what makes the house worth keeping, and build the new work to match it.

The City of Port Phillip issues planning permits in Middle Park and administers its heritage overlay; the state’s VicPlan map shows the detail for each address.

Every project is managed personally, with clear communication at every stage. Foremost holds building registration CDB-U63719, and Robert is a current member of Master Builders Victoria.
